The Heart of the Maritimes
Halifax is perfectly positioned for day trips or short stays in some of Atlantic Canada’s most scenic destinations. Just 45 minutes away lies Peggy’s Cove, home to one of Canada’s most photographed lighthouses. Alternatively, visit Lunenburg, a UNESCO World Heritage waterfront town famous for its colourful houses and tall ships, or head to the Annapolis Valley wine country for a truly authentic Nova Scotia experience.

Getting Around
Halifax and Nova Scotia don’t have a high-speed rail network, so a rental car is the best way to explore beyond the city. Major agencies (Enterprise, Hertz, Avis, National) operate directly from Halifax Stanfield International Airport, and the province’s well-maintained highways make day trips to Peggy’s Cove, Lunenburg, and the Annapolis Valley easy to plan. Within downtown Halifax itself, the free Halifax Transit ferry and a walkable waterfront boardwalk make getting around simple without a car.
