The city’s seafaring heritage and Victorian architecture define its skyline today.

This star-shaped fortress atop Citadel Hill has guarded the harbour since 1856. Don't miss the daily cannon-fire ceremony and panoramic views over the city.
Halifax Public Gardens
One of the finest Victorian gardens in North America, this tranquil 16-acre oasis in the heart of downtown has welcomed visitors since 1867.
Peggy's Cove
Small, still-active fishing village about 40 minutes from Halifax, known for its candy-striped lighthouse perched on smooth, wave-battered granite boulders right at the Atlantic's edge.
