Satellite Meetings

Our Annual Meeting wouldn’t be complete without the ISBNPA Satellite Meetings. These events are a core part of our commitment to creating a vibrant scientific hub around the main conference, allowing you to maximize your travel by attending multiple high-impact scientific activities in a single trip. All satellites are conveniently located near the main event in Cádiz and take place just beforehand. We encourage you to consider these specialized sessions as you plan your journey.

The ISBNPA Satellite Meeting: ‘Challenges and opportunities in the promotion of an active life in childhood and adolescence’ is an international scientific gathering affiliated with the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity. Coordinated by the Universidad Pablo de Olavide in collaboration with the Universidad de Cádiz and the Spanish Network for an Active and Healthy Childhood, the meeting’s primary objective is to analyze current challenges and emerging strategies in promoting healthy lifestyles from the earliest stages of life. Through knowledge transfer among researchers, health professionals, and public entities, the conference seeks to drive effective policies and programs to combat sedentary behavior and improve the holistic well-being of children and adolescents. Hosting this satellite meeting reinforces UPO’s commitment to research excellence and its leadership in the fields of Sports Science and Public Health.

Location: Escuela Tecnica Superior de Arquitectura (ETSAG), Universidad de Granada Campo del Príncipe, 18071 Granada

Building on the longstanding work and shared interests of the PROFITH and AFIPS research groups (from University of Granada and University of Valencia respectively, Spain) on the built environment and commuting research topics, we are sponsoring hosting? a Satellite Meeting in the city of Granada, prior to ISBNPA 2026 in Cádiz, Spain. The proximity of Granada and Cádiz (290 km) makes it time- and energy-efficient to participate in academic activities in both cities while in Spain. This symposium will acknowledge the 22 years of the International Physical Activity and Environment Network (IPEN), recognising over two decades of groundbreaking global collaboration that has shaped science, policy, and professional development in the field. As the first international research network to systematically study physical activity and the built environment, IPEN has been instrumental in defining methodologies and generating evidence that informs urban health policy worldwide.

The programme will include keynote presentations and small-group discussions on IPEN’s contributions and methods, as well as recent studies on active commuting conducted in Spain. These sessions will provide opportunities for reflection, methodological exchange, and future collaboration. The meeting will be complemented by cultural activities in the historic city of Granada, creating a rich environment for informal discussion, networking, and renewed collaboration among participants.
